Engage Your Facebook Fans

Published on October 17, 2011 by in Social Media

If Facebook actually did or did not reach the 750 million users doesn’t really matter, but we can all say that Facebook is definitely a place for any and all businesses that need or want additional exposure!  Plain and simple right?  Not really!  There is lots to do and often.

You have created your business page with a great profile picture, great banner, “welcome page” and the fan “likes” are slowing getting to great numbers, but where do you go from there?

ENGAGE your Fans to get on their news feeds to continue to grow that fan list.  Here are a few suggestions to consider:

  • Craft engaging Facebook status updates: the status update is your gateway to interacting with your fans.  Therefore you need to consider asking questions, create a poll(s), “encourage” your fans to “like” if they agree.  The more “likes” or posting engaging comments will give your status updates a boost to be on fan’s news feeds.
  • Facebook Questions Feature: Facebook several months ago came out with a really great way to engage in your fans/friends, Facebook Questions!  The exposure of these questions is very great especially as people continue to answer the questions posted.  Use the Questions Feature option located above your status bar over directly posting into your status update.
  • Photos and Videos: If you are on Facebook in a personal capacity then you are posting pictures, uploading videos, and other media for your friends and family to see and hear.  Why not use them on your Facebook Page?  Media is popular and fun!  Did you get an award at a networking event or receive a certificate for finishing a specialty class that will help expand your business?  Post a picture!  Hosted a class and video taped yourself?  Post it!
  • Host Contests: Everybody loves contests…free or discounted services or merchandise oh yeah!  Ready to start a contest?  Remember stay to your target brand as much as possible.  Don’t make it too broad or you may get people to “Like” your page that aren’t in your target market and won’t engage in future status updates.

There you have it four ways to ENGAGE your fans.  Simple, easy and very basic!   What do  you think?  Would these work or do you have another suggestion not listed?  Comment below to let others hear what you do to engage your fans!
